THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PGRT COQUITLAM MEMORANDUM TO: Mayor and Council March 32d, PROM: Planning and Zoning Committee Re: GVRD Planning Study - "Industry and the Livable Region" Council will recall the subject study published by GVRD, copy of which was circulated to all Council members in January this year. Also in January this year, GVRD Planning Staff met with the Committee to further Clarify this study. GvrD has requested responses from both Committee and Council te a number of questions pertaining to this study. These questions are attached for reference, The responses of the Committee to these questions are as follows: 1. The Committee has no objection to a resolution of Council supporting the overall objectives for industrial planning as outlined in the study, 2. The Committee has no spscific response to question 2. 3. ittee is prepared to support the idea of setting up some form of an industrial Gevelopment commission Proviced it has only one employed staff person who acts as an information or liason officer responsible for the dispersing of pertinent information relating to industrial development in the Region. 4. The Conmittee does not see an investigation as outlined in question 4 has any advantages for Port Coquitlam at this time. L. Lee, Planning Officer. Will Port Coquitlam Council pass a resolution supporting the overall objectives for industrial planning as outlined in the report? Are there specific recosmendations in the report which Port Coquitlan Councit cannot support? Does Port Coquitlam Council support the concept of establishing sone form of region-wide industrial development comission? If so, what form should this commission take?
