Mills expecting full corps of specialists THE HIRING of a tecruiling company to find specialists at Mills Memorial Hospital has paid off, says its chief exccutive of- ficer. A radiologist is scheduled to ar- tive June 27 and an obstetrician- gynecologist is to due move here in September, says. Michaei Leisinger. The Ontarid-based recruiting company was hired in March. The company may sound ex- pensive at $21,000 for the first starch and half of that for all others, but the results are im- pressive, said Leisinger. ‘It guarantees results and means we don’t have to spend a lot of our time finding people on our own,’’ he added, It solved the problem of the hospital finding somebody anly to have that person ultimately turn down the offer, Leisinger said of past attempts by the hospi- tal lo find a radiologist and an ob- City official elected CITY BY-LAW enforcement of- ficer Frank Bowsher has been elected second vice-president of the province’s By-law Enforce- ment Officers and Licence In- spectors Association. We did the advertising, did the checks and made a job offer to a person from South Africa. He came and like us. A month goes by and then he faxes us and tells us he’s not coming for personal reasons,”’ recounted Leisinger. “By that time all of our leads were cold, our advertising was cold and we had to start basically all over again.”’ — “They do all the legwork. They also try to arrange the perfect marriage, lo send the right person to the right place,” Leisinger said of the recruiting company. The company also handles the paperwork and regulations of the federal government should no domestic candidates be found and ai overseas recruitment is needed, “By all accounts, these are long term people. They’re coming here to stay,”’ said Leisinger of the specialists. “The recruiting company is worth it if for no other reason than for the service the specialists provide for the community,”’ he said, The . hospital. has used temporary, rotating specialists to fill the . gaps until permanent people were found. Combined with a pediatrician who started work last week, it means the hospital now has a full complement of permanent, local specialists, said Leisinger. The pediatrician, Dr. Jane Pegg of Halifax, was found in a sepa- rate search before the recruiting company was hired, She replaces Dr. Mohammed Howidi who left the end of May. The radiologist is Dr. Emie Behm from Grand Falls, New-— foundland and the obstetrician- gynecologist is Dr. Sheila Watson from Moose Jaw. project. Ulrich at 638-7274. SPORT W 4 DAYS ONLY!
