at Cassie Hall School on the eve-

parents that they need not be fa-

‘miliar with the French language -

‘to be able to help their child in
‘French Immersion.

Mrs. Trombley then gave some
‘general precepts a parent might
follow in. helping with
homework, and followed wilh a
comprehensive catalogue of
‘resources available, ranging from
‘computer systems to French dic-
tionaries.

There are also several sources
of assistance in the schools and
the community for any child in
FI. who encounters any. dif-
ficulties in the program.

was for the parents to break up
into three groups, where they
were. given more specific advice
on the parental role in homework.

mary level, kindergarten to grade
3 with Catherine Croucher as the:
resource teacher,

Sue Trombley handled the
elementary level, grade 4 - 7,
with Mary DeLecuw as the
resource teacher. ;

Patti Barnes facilitated the
secondary level, with Urs Gasser

as the resource leacher. ;

hand textbooks used by children,
procedures for homework soolf-
ing, methods of enriching a

Information was provided by sample homework assignments,
the teachers on their philosophy and ways in which parents could
