June 7, 1993/177 Whereas every senior has special qualities and individual talents, such as the ability to lend a helping hand, give advice, express kindness and generosity, or provide leadership and inspiration; Whereas every senior has a unique contribution to make to family, friends, community, and the province; Whereas Seniors as individuals and as a group, enrich the lives of all British Columbians; And Whereas Seniors’ Week is a time to acknowledge seniors’ contributions and increase public awareness of their vital role in the life ot British Columbia through special events and celebrations, Now therefore I, Len Traboulay, Mayor of the City of Port Coquitlam, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM the week of June 6 to June 12, 1993 as "SENIORS’” WEEK” in the City of Port Coquitlam. Whereas the citizens of Greater Vancouver have recognized the need for individual and group action on the part of government, industry, motorists and the general public to improve local air quality; And whereas the Greater Vancouver Regional District. being responsible for regional air quality management, requests the participation of all Lower Fraser Valley Air Basin communities in efforts to reduce air pollution, Now therefore I, Leonard M. Traboulay introduced Mr. Jim Bames, 917 Richmond Place, who spoke regarding problerns stemming from the increase in baseball games at Lincoln Elementary School, creating parking problems in the cul-de-sac, especially in front of his driveway, as well as problems with foul balls landing in his yard and through his windows, because of improper placement of the backstops.
