4) Parking Problems on Kingsway at Mary Hill Rd. The concern of the resident is that large trucks are parking on Kingsway too close to Mary Hill Rd. He says that it is difficult to see around these trucks when entering Kingsway from Mary Hill Rd. He would like to see a "No Parking” restriction imposed on Kingsway 50m east and 50m west of Mary Hill Rd. Kingsway Ave. is a truck route and parking is allowed on both sides of Kingsway from the Bypass to Westwood St.(except on curves). Restricting parking on this road would only encourage drivers to park their trucks on residental and non-truck route streets. This would cause problems for both homeowners and smaller commercial businesses that need the parking space for customers. Solutions: a) Restrict the parking on Kingsway 6m from either side of the intersection at Mary Hill Rd. This will create a greater sight distance and allow safer access from Mary Hill onto Kingsway. Cost of two "No Parking" signs is approx. $200. 5) The resident’s last concern is regarding the zoning of a parcel of land on the north west comer of Citadel Dr. and Confederation Dr. He is concerned that the, area residents will have no say in what sort of business will be allowed to operate there. When a parcel is zoned for a specific purpose, in this case it is C-1, then the commercial business that can operate there is limited. The Planning Dept. is encouraging the re-zoning of this parcel to C-2 which will allow a wider choice of business to possibly operate there. If a re-zoning occurs, the City Clerk's office will notify the residents of the area by letter informing them of a public hearing. At that time they are welcome to air their views for council. If the property remains C-1 then the residents do not have a say in what kind of business can operate there. | Loe “Ns 1 ~~] Anne T. Pynenburg | Project Technician attachments atp
