May 16th, 1983 /114 Moved by Alderman Mabbett: Seconded by Alderman Keryluk: WHEREAS Section 86 of the Municipal Act states that a Counci! may provide that all Aldermen shall be elected biennially; AND WHEREAS some provincial jurisdictions ~ notably Ontario - provide for a three year term of office for Counci! members ; AND WHEREAS it is thought desireable that the option of a three year term of office should be available for Counci! members in British Columbia; NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Government of the Province of British Columbia be requested to amend the Municipal Act to provide for the option of a three year term of office for Council members and the holding of triennial elections. Carried. NEW BUSINESS: *PW/00/83/05/16/00 Alderman Mabbett expressed concern regarding the sidewalk in the 1900 Block Mary Hill Road. Moved by Alderman Mabbett: Seconded by Alderman Vater: That the Public Works Committee examine the cost of sidewalk construction in the 1900 Block Mary Hil] Road and report back to Council. Carried. Alderman Mabbett suggested that a resolution be prepared regarding the time taken by the Province to approve the City's Zoning Bylaws.
