JUN 2 1 1976 SUN 28 1976 DRAFT RESOLUTION WHEREAS the Board of School Trustees of School District No. 43 (Coquitlam) has constructed the Hastings Junior Secondary School west of the Coquitlam River, north of Lincoln Avenue, and east of Pipeline Road; AND WHEREAS the said school is expected to open in September, 1976; AND WHEREAS the majority of the students for the said school will come from the area of the City of Port Coquitlam located east of the Coquitlam River thus necessitating a long, arduous, and hazardeus journey to the said school; AND WEEREAS an unsatisfactory condition arises as the only route to '. the school is along the very busy Lougheed Highway which will shortly be in process of widening from two lanes to four lanes thus presenting all the consequent and usual hazards of detours, heavy road-building machinery, unsatisfactory walking surfaces, etc.; NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of School Trustees of School District No. 43 (Coquitlam) and the appropriate agencies of the Provincial Government be requested to make the necessary funds available in order that an effective shuttle bus service may be operated from the area of the City of Port Coquitlam east of the Coquitlam River to the new Hastings Junior Secondary School west of the River until such time as walking conditions along the Lougheed Highway return to a reasonable standard.
