October 27th, 1975 Moved by Al¢erman Laking: Seconded by Alderman Ranger: That as recommended in a report from the City Administrator, September 19th, 1975 the City now purchase property located at 1065 Lynwood Avenue at the stated price of $36,000.00 and that funds be provided from the City's Tax Sale Land Account for the acquisition thereof. Carried. Aldermen Traboulay and Mabbett voted against the resolution. In speaking to his motion, Alderman Laking noted that he was originally opposed to the purchase of the property on the basis of a preposal for an industrial development requiring the City's participation financially, however, as this proposal did not receive the support of Council Alderman. Laking was prepared to support the expenditure of funds for property adjacent to the City's Nature Area. Alderman Traboulay expressed concern that the City was continuing to acquire land for which it had no definite plans and felt that if land is to be acquired by the City it should be such that it could be developed for housing and/or industrial purposes. Mayor Campbell made reference to a report being prepared re City-owned lands and expressed the view that it would be a serious mistake to sell some of the properties without replacing them with other more desirable parcels.
