<= COQUNC March 4th, 1976 MAR 8 1976 TO: Mayor and Council FROM: Community Development Committee Fe Oe os me eee ee my ae ee Oe Se a Se ee ee en Se eetand The Community Development Committee has given consideration to the following twa requests. i. Church of Latter Day Saints - request to purchase City Land. This Church has applied to the City to purchase approximately 3 acres of land. Specifically they have asked for a site on Reeve Street, north of the property that has been approved for sale to the School Board. Attached is a map showing the location of this site. fhe land in question is in the Agricultural Land Reserve and the Flood Plain, although we have determined that the Church use can be accommodated in the Flood Plain and the Land Commission have advised that exemption may be con~ Sidered. An application would have to be made through the Greater Vancouver Regional District to have the land released from the Agricultural Land Reserve. before any construction can take place. The Committee does not recommend sale of the land at this time. The Committee felt that the results of the Coquitlam River Study should be known prior to Making a decision on disposal of this land. The Study on the Coquitlam River may result in a redefinition of the Flood Plain boundaries, thereby making the' dand suitable for other uses and it may be that due to the Proximity of the Parcel to the City Centre, that there may be a more appropriate use in the future. The Committee therefore does not recommend the sale of the land to the Church. 2. The Committee also considered an offer from the owners of three lots located on Stafford Street. (see attached map) It was thought by the owner that the City may be interested in purchasing these as the City owns all of the surrounding dand on the south side of Stafford. No purchase price was suggested by the owners. The Committee does not feel that the Purchase of these lands would be a priority at this time and therefore does not recommend that we pursue acquisition at this time, :
