Richmond French-language pro-
gram’s first open house, on
January 24, was a great suc-
cess. Parents and school ad-
ministrators are working dili-
gently, combining their efforts to
recruit new students.

The program, with eight Kinder-
garten and Grade 1 students,
will offer two more classes next
year, adding grades 2 and 3.
The recruiting committee will be
on hand at the Richmond Cen-
tre on February 24 and March
2, 2002. We are also planning
a second open house for March
5. Come on in and see us !

On January 30 and 31,
2002, the students of
Robb Road and Aspen
Park Middle schools
were initiated to the
joys of the sugar shack.

Each class in turn at-
tended a presentation
explaining all of the se-
crets of a real sugar 7
shack, and students “ - 2 .
had an opportunity to ae :
savour the sweet, deli-
cate taste of maple taffy. Fiddlers, wooden spoons, music, traditional dancing,
and even snow combined to enable participants of all ages to enjoy one of the
best French-Canadian traditions: the cabane a sucre.

We wish to thank René Turmel of Grande Coulée for his marvellous work, and
for allowing us to enjoy this sweet tradition. .
