of new development. Additional new routes will help to disperse traffic from some of the current bottleneck areas. The medium-term rzojects will accommodate new development by upgrading existing roads and creating new facilities such as commuter rail and the Oxford Overpass. The long-term projects consist mainly of Provincial initiatives that will address the regional demands and needs of a higher and denser population in the area. The City will likely be undertaking the renewal of its transportation infrastructure rather than new construction. Given the number, scope and range of transportation projects that have been considered, it is concluded that the proposed program for road and transportation improvements will be sufficient to accommodate new growth provided that: 1. The City proceeds with the proposed transportation projects in the appropriate time frame; and The Province continues to construct the transportation facilities needed to accommodate local and regional traffic flows.
