GREATER VANCOUVER REGIONAL DISTRICT

A Resolution to Establish Procedures for the
Preparation and Adoption of
a Regional Strategic Plan for the
Greater Vanceuver Regional District

WHEREAS the Board of Directors of the Greater Vancouver
Regional! District ("Regional Board”) has established and is operating

regional district development services under Section 787({d) of the
Municioal Act;

AND WHEREAS the Regicnal Board desires to provide a procedure
for implementation of regional strategic pianning initiatives on a
consensus/partnership basis with member municipalities, the Bowen
sland lecal trust committee of the islands Trust, other government
agencies and private individuals;

AND WHEREAS the Regional Board desires that there be no
reduction in the powers of member municipalities under Part 29,
Management and Development, of the Municipal Act, the City of
Vancouver, under Part XXVII, Planning and Development, of the
Vancouver Charter and that the powers of the Bowen Island trust

committee under the Islands Trust Act, will not be reduced in any
Ve ay;

NOW THEREFORE, the Regional Board in open meeting assembled
resoives as follows:

1. The Regionai District intends to adopt a Regional Strategic
7lan.

The Regional Strategic Plan may include text, maps and plans
and shail include policies on:

3) the vision, goals and objectives of the Regional District
in respect of its growth, development, quality of life and
environment;

the long term distribution of population, housing and
employment within the Regional District;
