NEWSPAPER PICKUP IN PORT COQUITLAM
SHARE SOCIAL SERVICES

‘That the City of Port Coquitlam write a letter to Share Social Services acknowledging the
valuable contribution provided by Share Social Services in the newspaper pickup program that
Share has provided in the City of Port Coquitlam since July, 1985. .

The Share Social Services has been providing newspaper pickup services within the City of Port
Coquiiam since July, 1985. Participation by City residences in the newspaper pickup program
has been increasing steadily. For example, as shown on the attached newspaper recycling
statistics report from Share, the participation by residents of Port Coquitlam, between January
and May of 1989 versus 1991, has increased 23% by weight and by number of homes. |

_At present, the City of Port Coquitlam has.a newspaper pickup contract with Share Social
Services. Due to the implementation of the City of Port Coquitlam curbside multi-media
recycling program commencing on September 3, 1991, the newspaper pickup contract with .
Share Social Services will be concluded as of August 30, 1991.

Roxanne McDonald is the current Director of Community Services for Share Social Services.
Bob Faust, Supervisor of Cost. Recovery Programs, has been responsible for the newspaper
pickup program in Port Coquitlam since the start of the program in 1985. | :
