Terrace will be a riot of
gold and red flowers this
spring, when an estimated
8,000 tulips commemora-
fing the Royal Canadian
Legion's 75 anniversary
will come into bloom.
Branch 13 is donating
6,000 bulbs to local non-
profit groups to help cele-
brate the anniversary, and
has already sold about
2,000 to local gardeners.
The list af donations so
far’ includes: the city of
Terrace, Northwest Com-
munity College, the Ter-
race Beautification Socie-
ty’s memorial display at
the weigh scales, the’
Kinsmen Club of Terrace,

The. branches are se!l-
ing three varieties of Dar-
win Hybrid tulips: the Le-
gion Gold (a golden-yel-

low tulip), the Legion
Crimson (bright red) and
the Legion Brilliant (red
with feathered yellow
edges on the petals).

The bulbs planted this
fall will bloom for many
years. Tulips, the national

‘flower of the Netherlands,

are. also a way to maintain
links between Canada and
that country that were for-
ged during the - Second
World War.

The Royal Canadian
Legion formed in 1926,
