THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM TO: Mayor and Aldermen July 19, 1988 FROM: Aiderman M.D. Gates SUBJECT: MacSween Creek at Pitt Lake RECOMMENDATION: That the Municipal Council of the Corporation of The City of Port Coguitlam request the Ministry of Environment and Parks of the Provincial Government to accede to the request made by land holders adjacent to MacSween Creek on Pitt Lake asking that a stream channel improvement project be undertaken as soon as possible. Background and Comments: Although the property involved is located outside the boundaries of the City the properties are occupied by residents of Port Coquitlam, Coquitlam, and Port Moody and if the recommendation above is approved the Municipalities of Coquitlam and Port Moody will be asked to take similar action. The magnitude of the problem is shown on the phetographs following and I will have the original colour photographs available at the Council meeting. The support of the three Councils would be appreciated by the land ewners as the Ministry of Environment and Parks has stated that as recreational properties have a lower priority than residential properties when competing for the limited funds available it is unlikely that, in future, Provincial money would be provided to reduce the flood damage potential from MacSween Creek.
