From the British Columbia Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, April 30th, 1976, being the April, 1976 service report of the Pound Operation. Alderman Keryluk drew attention to the General Remarks section of the report which states in part: "it is duly noted that the number of animals being destroyed as surplus to human requirements is still increasing, however, this situation snould be remedied when the Low Cost Spay and Neuter Clinic commences its operation." REPORTS: From the Public Works Committee, May 7th, 1976, recommending that speed control bumps be installed along the main driveway in front of the Hyde Creek Centre, and advising that recommendations on parking regulations will be forthcoming following completion of the Laurier Avenue reconstruction and paving in order to determine what effect the new street will have on parking and traffic movements. Moved by Alderman Mabbett: Seconded by Alderman Thompson: | That as recommended in a report from the Public Works Committee, May 7th, 1976, speed control bumps be installed along the main driveway in front of the Hyde Creek Centre. Carried. From the Public Works Committee, May 7th, 1976, advising of a ; STOP sign~Langan ’ & Brown request received to install a STOP sign at the intersection of Langan and Brown, and recommending that no STOP sign be installed at this time since the low level of traffic does not appear to warrant same. Moved by Alderman Mabbett: Seconded by Alderman Thompson: That as recommended in a repert from the Public Works Committee, May 7th, 1976, a STOP sign not be installed at this time at the intersection of Langan and Brown. Defeated. Aldermen Mabbett and Thompson voted in favour of the resolution. Prior to the question being called on the foregoing resolution, a discussion ensued and Alderman Mabbett advised that a number of traffic counts have been taken in the area and that the results thereof do not warrant installation of the STOP sign as requested; however, Alderman Laking commented that the residents on Langan were concerned about the traffic situation, particularly since the occurrence of two recent accidents, and he proposed the following motion: Moved by Alderman Laking:
