December 8th, 1975 Council as an elected body to request that the Directors of the Regional District endeavour to produce a Budget that is within a ten percent increase over the 1975 Budget. A memorandum from Alderman P.F. Ranger, December 8th, 1975, was submitted stating he would like to support Delta's request (as stated above), and proposing therein the following resolution: "Whereas the Port Coquitlam Council is attempting to limit tax increases in 1976 to 10%; And Whereas the G.V.R.D. does not have the power to approve or disapprove major planning considerations; And Whereas the major thrust of planning a livable region took place over the past two years at great expense to region taxpayers; Therefore be it resolved that the Municipal Council of Port Coquitlam request that the 1976 provisional budget of the G.V.R.D., particularly in the area of planning, be reduced co a more realistic level." A discussion ensued, and members of Council generally agreed with Alderman Traboulay's suggestion that the second paragraph be deleted from the body of the resolution and mentioned in a supporting statement instead. Moved by Alderman Ranger: Seconded by Alderman Thompson: Whereas the Port Coquitlam Council is attempting to limit tax increases in 1976 to 10%; And Whereas the major thrust of planning a livable region took place over the past two years at great expense to region taxpayers; Therefore be it Resolved that the Municipal Council of Port Coquitlam request that the 1976 provisional budget of the G.V.R.D., particularly in the area of planning, be reduced to a more realistic level.
