- Alderman. Traboulay stated he. wished to ‘congratulate the Kinsmen for their

_ very successful July-Ist Sports Carnival, but commented he would like to find out

the cost incurred by. the City in connection with this event; also, what the Kins-

men were planning to do in terms of monies. raised, and

itten to the Kinsmen. in that -Tegard, as well as determining. the costs: for pub-

lic works provided by the City. —

_ Alderman Laking stated he had been. advised by the

_ Swim C1-5 that there would
be a Swim Meet. in Port Coquitlam on August 4th. and Sth, which will include swim

clubs from six other cities. and. municipalities, one being Kelowna, which has a

number of self-contained units it uses when travelling, and that. the local Swim

Club has requested that the participants from Kelowna be permitted to park their

campers in Lions Park for two nights and use the washroom facilities there.

Swim Club checked other areas and there appears to be no other, facilities available

at that time for camper parking. Alderman Thompson - inquired how many. units would

be coming from. Kelowna, and Alderman Laking replied approximat ely i5, but conmen=

ted that some of the participants will be billeted in school gynansiums; also,
there may be a. possibility of parking the vehicles at the schools, but this will .

not be known until the ‘Board meets, and the

to Kelowna in the meantime that. parking will be provided for their units.

Swim Club needs to give some assurance

Mabbett suggested that the Swim Club would be well advised to have a comissionaire

on duty at the Park entrance for identification of: the people coming and going,

and Alderman Laking agreed, stating that they are prepared to supply people for any

“type of policing the City requires.

Alderman Laking then advised that the Port Coquitlam Minor Lacrosse Assoc ia-

tion would like to hold a Provincial Bantam B Lactosse Tournament this year ins~

tead of their usual Janboree, and have requested the use of the facilities at the

Port Recreation Centre on Friday evening, August ard and all day Saturday a and

Sunday, August 4th and 5th, for this purpose.
