Fédération des francophones de la Colombie-Britannique > COMMUNICATIONS, continued Overview of the Presidents’ Council On November 8 and 10, 2002, the Fédération des francophones de la Colombie-Britannique welcomed representatives of its member associations to Richmond. During the opening day of the council, all of the member associations around the table took turns presenting their organizations’ achievements and upcoming activities. The group took an in-depth look at the role of the Presidents’ Council and discussed the subject in a workshop format. The Provincial Consultative Committee report was submitted during the meeting. The Committee is one of two committees created by the Canada-Community Agreement and is made up of 13 members from the Francophone Community. A day-long training session was inserted into the Presidents’ Council meeting. The session was offered by Canadian Heritage for executive directors of Francophone associa- tions in the province. The FFCB also provided a workshop for elected officers of member associations on the role of elected officials within organizations. Topics covered in the training session included the importance of the board of directors in the vision and direction of an organization, guid- ing principles for organizations, roles and responsibilities of the board, executive director and the development of internal policies. During the Presidents’ Council, the Association francophone de Surrey celebrated its 15th anniversary, and a plaque was presented to the association by FFCB President, Claude Provencher.
