And then of course, there
was the full house at the Sugar
Shack brunch on the Saturday.

The festival, as usual, began
with our Kick-off Social.

This occurred on Wednesday,
January 27 at Cowpuccino’s.
Ben Cornwall, local musician,
provided the music and he
played for more than an hour
in front of 30 people (including
volunteers). We had 30 tickets
for sale for the event, and we
sold 27.

Thursday, January 28, be-
fore arriving in Prince Rupert
for the Sugar Shack, Le Vent
du Nord played a concert at the
R.E.M. Lee Theatre in Terrace,
and it was fantastic. Local
Terrace group, the Copper
Mountain Stringband, opened
the show, prior to Le Vent tak-
ing the stage with their amaz-
ing set. We sold 175 tickets for
the show, and with volunteers,
more than 180 people partici-
pated.

Next up for Le Vent was
Prince Rupert. Friday after-

noon, Le Vent performed a
quick show for students at
Roosevelt Elementary. The
magical moment for the stu-
dents occurred when Réjean,
from Le Vent, showed the kids
how to play drums with their
feet for a few songs!

And yes, Friday night, Le
Vent performed their show for
Prince Rupert at the Lester
Centre. Including volunteers,
more than 150 people partici-
pated that evening.

But as mentioned, the high-
light of the weekend was with-
out a doubt the Sugar Shack
brunch Saturday morning, at
the Civic Centre, in front of
a full house! Les Copains du
Nord (the French version of
Copper Mountain Stringband,
from Terrace) animated the
event with their traditional mu-
sic. And for brunch, AFFNO
was serving up toffee on the
snow, and at the end of the day,
we nearly ran out of food!

preuve de sa compétence dans
la langue. Pour étre considéré
bilingue avec DELF, le niveau
B-2 (le niveau international)
doit étre atteint.

Puis, avec le B-2, l’individu
a l’option de travailler ou
d’étudier en France, ou
n’importe ot dans le monde ot
la langue officielle est fran-
gaise.

La meilleure fagon de
parvenir le niveau B-2 c’est de
rester en immersion francaise
jusqu’a la graduation, ou aussi
longtemps que possible.

Notre source convient que
l’immersion francaise et DELF
travaille mieux ensemble.

Une étude en 2012 fait
par ACPI (1’ Association
Canadienne des Professeurs
d’Immersion) a déterminé que

la majorité des éléves qui on eu
leur B-2 sont ceux et celles qui
sont restés dans le programme
d’immersion, (jusqu’a la
12iéme année), alors la chance
du succés avec le DELF aug-
mente.

En comparaison, les éléves
ayant moins d’immersion ont
des problémes avec le test.

Alors, c’est évident
que DELF est un trés bon
outil pour les éléves, mais
de l’utiliser pour remplacer
l’immersion francaise n’est pas
la solution.

‘La question n’est méme
pas pertinent,’ c’était l’opinion
de notre source national.

Une réunion publique
sur |’avenir de l’immersion
francaise 4 Hazleton aura lieu
lundi, le 18 avril a l’école sec-
ondaire, a partir de 18 heures
(aprés midi).
