Moved by Alderman Keryluk: Seconded by Alderman Gates: Be it resolved that the Municipality of Port Coquitlam supports the principle that communities shoula have a say in decisions which affect their local environment and further supports the City of Czanbrook in its efforts to prevent the unwanted import of PCB wastes into the community; AND THAT the Union of British Columbia Municipalities be advised of this action by the Council. Moved by Alderman Gates: Seconded by Alderman Laking: That the correspondence from the Township of Richmond, July 27, 1989 relating to the Development of Heavy Rescue Training Program be referred to the City's Building and Protection Committee. Carried. REPORTS : From the Deputy City Engineer, July 31, 1989 referring to the construction fo sidewalk on Wellington Street at Irvine Elementary. Moved by Alderman Laking: Seconded by Alderman Stewart: That Council reaffirm its earlier decision not to construct a sidewalk on the east side of Wellington Street adjacent to Irvine Elementary School and that the School District be so advised. Carried. Mayor Traboulay and Alderman voted against the resolution.
