m= COUNCIL Mayor and Council , AUG 13 1979 Environmental Protection Committee Re -— Boarding Home - 1948i:Grant Avenue Council will recall that approval was given to establish a residential facility for handicapped persons at 1948 Grant Avenue, in January of this year. When the license was approved, Council was informed that because of the size of the house, it would accommodate six or seven persons plus the operator's family. In order to increase the accommodation, it would be necessary for the operator's family to move out and maintain accommodation for live-in staff. The Environmental Protection Committee received an application from Mrs. Burton, the operator, to increase her license from the present six to ten patients. She has informed the Committee by letter that, if this was approved, she would seek alternative accommodation in -the vicinity and would maintain live-in staff in the home to care for the patients. The Committee has reviewed the request and does not recommend that the increase be approved, in consideration of the fact that the original license was specifically limited, by Council, to six residents and as the home is still relatively new in the area, the number of occupants should not be increased.
