Colorado coverage overboard

Dear Sir;

On Tuesday, April 20, two
tcenage gunmen, one of
them my age, walked into
Columbine High School in
Littleton, Colorado, and
opened fire, killing 13
people before taking their
own lives.

I first learned of this trage-
dy on April 20. About one
hour afler it happened, I

found quite a few storics |

aboul it already published
on quite a few news sites on
the Internet.

While I] was shocked and
upset at what had happened,
I was also shocked to see
what a huge role the media

The disruptive rabblers led
by labour minister Dale
Lovick into the midst of a
townhall rally in Nanaimo, a
forum to express divergent
critical views of this govern-
ment’s performance, was a
villainous, contemptuous at-
tack on the Canadian
covenant of frce speech and
Tight to peaceably assemble.

We had a similar rally in
Terrace last year. We had no
such miditancy in our
audience with our local
nigby team as security, we
had superb witty humorous

‘heartfelt speeches from
those present.

It was an all encompassing
grassrools venue supported
by the widest cross-section
of northwesterers. It was
even attended by our MLA,
Helmut Giesbrecht and cab-
inet minister Dan Miller.

Far from being the hate-
fest as NDP mouthpieces
like Sihota, Gardiner, Clark
and Lovick contend, there
was thought provoking criti-
que stimulated amongst
everyone,

When I look at Clark’s
backstage tacit condoning of
the Alaska ferry blockade,
the union threats and in-
timidation of prospective
signers ‘during our Skeena
riding recall campaign and
now this full frontal assault
on democracy’s very un-
derpinnings, it’s timé to jet-
tison this contemptuous lot.

While driving over the
overpass about a month ago
[ spotted this gigantic
billboard screaming ils
angered message.

It was the Coalition of
Dissatisfied Citizens making
their mark, asking if you
have had enough yet.

Is it a good solution for
your organization to com-
plain about the government
fo get other British Colum-
bians to complain along
with you? _

You could actually work
toward change (like suc-
cessful recall campaigns), or
support another political
parly in the next election.

T am not an avid en-
courager of vandalism; it’s
ugly.

But when J saw the ‘Unite
the Right’ miraculously
transform into ‘Unite the
Rick,’ I knew someone has
had enough of Unite the
Right.

I thank that person or per-
sons for you provided a
good laugh, and you made
people think a little more in-
stead of complaining.
