The anti-tagging device is small and
puck-shaped. It was swiped from right
off the till, likely while somecne’s

He figures a group of kids were

Use Your Emergency Department Wisely
Your hospital EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT is organized for sudden, serious
health problems. The hospital has a fixed budget, however, and unnecessary
use of the emergency department diverts resources from other areas of the
hospital. The same service provided in the doctor's office is much cheaper
than if provided in the Emergency Department. It should not be used as a
substitute for visits to your doctor’s office.

Realtors shuffle offices

ONE OF THE city’s oldest real estate agencics has
closed its doors.

NRS Ventura Realty Ltd. shut its doors at the end
-of March and most of the realtors there have been ab-
sorbed by other offices.

Wanda Walberg and Raja Sandhu went to Terrace
Really, Linda Boyce went to Skeena Realty, and Der-
rick Kennedy went to Century 21.

At the same time as the NRS shutdown, Century 21
realtors Laurie Forbes and Shaunce Kruisselbrink
moved over to Re/max.

A Real Estate Association spokesman said such
changes are common in other communities, addiug
Terrace’s realty scence has been relatively static.

NRS Ventura sales administrator Gary Ventura
wouldn't explain the closure last week, bul said he
might be in a better position to talk this week.

Sears to open outlet

SEARS CANADA is returning to the relail sales
market in Terrace by opening an outlet that'll sell
major appliances, outdoor power products, floor care
products and sewing products.

Company spokesman Andrew Pelletier says the
company is looking for between 4,000 and 5,000
square fect of retail space,

And, depending upon location and other considera-
tions, the sales outlet could be in the same location as
the company’s catalogue service, he said.

“We want to be open by July and we’re looking for
the right person to act as our dealer in Terrace,’’ Pcl-
letier added.

The opening here is part of a Sears plan to put retail
dealer stores in locations which have catalogue outlets
but not a full-fledged department stores.

Sears now has 19 such retail dealer stores and wants
to have 50 open by the end of the year. A similar store
is being planned for Kitimat.

Visitor numbers rise

If’S ONLY early spring but already the Terrace und
District Chamber of Commerce says it had some
healthy tourism numbers in March.

northwest — one covering
the area around Burns Lake
and the second covering

up to Stewart,

Its second contract, which
expires April 11, was for
two years and was worth
$12.084 million.

Mowing rights of way,
brush control and dust con-
trol = requirements were
reduced in ihe second con-
tract.

There were no service
reductions in this five year
deal, said Nechako
Northcoast’s Ryan,

Nechako Northcoast’s bid
was evaluated 60 per cent
on its service plan and 40
per cent on its bid price.

The provincial govern-
ment farmed out its road
and bridge maintenance ser-
vices in the late 1980s.

staff cannot recommend the name cf a doctor to choose.

When It Really Is An Emergency
When you have a real emergency, bring the patient tc the EMERGENCY
DEPARTMENT, promptly, using ambulance services if necessary. Emergency
room nurses are also not allowed to give medical advice over the phone.
EMERGENCY patients are assessed on arrival and those with serious
and/or fife threatening problems are seen first. The hospital does not have
on site emergency physicians. In a real emergency “on-call” doctors are

available.
