The policy suggested above fo! lows very closely the provisions
of the City's bylaw that contro!s the erection of such signs at
civic elections with the major change being a provision that
Signs that may be erected in the four specified areas can be
posted thirty calendar days before polling day rather than only
ten. While this date is, of course, subject to any alteration
the Council wishes to make we rather thought that a thirty day

period was more practical given the usually greater extended
campaign periods for Provincial and Federal elections.

Eventually, when the City's Policy Manual! is finalized this
policy will be included in it.
Naturally, we will, to the best of our abilities,:.advise

candidates at the current Federal By-election of this. new

policy.
