SIGN, CANOPY means a sign attached to, suspended from, located oa or orning part of a canopy or sarquee and which does not extend horizontally beyond the limits of such canopy or marquee. SIGN, FACIA means a flat sign running parallel for its whole length to the face or wall of the bufiding upon which ict ts affixed, painted or attached. SIGN, FREESTANDING means a sign not attached to or forming part of a excluding a billboard sign. SIGN, PROJECTING means a sign which projects from the face or wall of a building, exciuding an auning sign, canopy sign, facta sign or roof sign. SIG, ROOF means an identification or local advertising sign erected spon the roof or parapet of a building, the entire face of which is situated above the roof level of the building to which ft 1s attached. SIGN, WINDOW means a sign affixed to the inside of a window in view of the general pubdlic. SIGN, UIRECTLIONAL (OFF-SITE) means a sign of not more than 1 nf (10.76 square feet) in area which indicates the distance or direction, or both, t2 < place of business or other prenises located on a site which is separate from that where such sign is situated. SIGN, DIRECTIONAL (ON-SITE) means a sign of not more than 0.6 n? (6.46 square feet) in area, intended to facilitate the movenent of pedestrians and/or vehicles within the site upon which such sign is situated. SIGN, GENERAL ADVERTISING means a sign which refers to goods or services other thaa chose produced, offered for sale or obtainable at the premises on which such sign is displayed. SIGN, IDENTIFICATION means a sign which contains no advertising but is sinited to the name, address and number of a building, institution or person and to the accivicy carried on in the building or institution or the occupation of the person. SIGS, LOCAL ADVERTISING means a sign which refers only ro goods or services produced, offered for sale or obtainable at the premises on which such sign is displayed. StGN, ILLUMINATED zeana a sign deslgned to give forth any artificlal- light, either directly from a source of light connected with such sign, or indirectly from an artificial source. . SICN, ANIMATED weans an illuminated sign which exhibits changing or moving colour effects maintained at a constant intensity of illuninatioa. SIGN, FLASHING means an illuminated sign which contains flashing lights or exhibits noticeable changes in light intensity. STREET means a public highway, road or thoroughfare which affords the principal means of access to abutting lots. WALL SURFACE OF BUILDING with a reference to area veans the total horiz- ontal surface area of a building, including window and door areas, which faces or fronts upon a street, measured to the extrene outer limits of such wall surface. ZONE means an area designated on the Official Zoning Map of the City and described in the Zoning By-law of the City in force for the tine being. APPLICATION 2. Within The Corporation of the City of Port Coquitlan no sign shall here- after be erected, pluced, altered, coved or maintained unless in confornity with this By-law, and the contrary shall be unlawful. 3. Signs lawfully in existence at the tine of the adoption of this By-law shall not be rebuilt, altered or moved unless in conforaity with the provisions of this By-law. ESTABLISHMENT OF SCHEDULES Signs shall be permitted as set forth in Sign Schedules "A" to "F" inclusive, which are hereby nace and declared to be an integral part of this By-Law. SIGN REQUIRIMENTS 4. Maximum Projections: {a) No awning sign, canopy sign or projecting sign shall project sore than 2 = (6.56 feer) from the face of wall ef the building to which it is attached. (b) Where an awning sign, canopy sign or projecting siga projects into a required yard, such projection shall in no case exceed 50 percent of the depth er width of such yard. 5. Billboard Signs: (a) Billboard signs shali be sited so as to conform with the required yard setbacks in the Zone in which they are situated, but in no case shall such signs be located closer than 7.5 2 (24.61 feet) to any street line. (b) No billboard sign shall be located closer than 9 m (29.53 feet) tu any street intersection, nor closer than 15 m (49.21 Feet) to the zoning boundary of an A, R, RM, Pl or P2 Zone.
