THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM -~4- ITEM V — Continued prior to January 8th, 1979. It is therefore necessary to get Council's approval at this time so that the application can be prepared. The Committee would like to submit two items for consideration. for the grant. The first and highest priority -would be for the construction of Kingsway from the end of the 1978 construction to Broadway. The second item would be the construction of the section of Eastbank Road which Council considered previously. It is probably unlikely that both applications will be approved but it is worth a try. Respectfully submitted, F.E. Peters, P. Eng., FEP/vw City Engineer. Mr. Fred Peters November 23, 1976 City Engineer, P. Eng. "R.G. Criggie G.c. Ald. Rick Mabbete By-Law Officer Public Work Chairman RE: Downtown Parking CA). I have received several complaints regarding parking on McAllister, that mos* of the street is being used for patrons using and frequenting the Legion premises. Of Course, our parking is being enforced however, this street is mostly a 2 hour parking zone with exception of City Hall and the Post Uffice, which is 30 winutes. To alliviate this problem, I suggest we go to a one hour parking time limit instead of the two hour parking which we now have. Bs). Elgin Avenue, between Shaughnessy and Mary Hill Road, is at present posted two hours parking. May I suggest also that it be changed to one hour. My reason for this is that we now have a large office complex on Llgin Avenue, althougin the building has on site parking for employces, and my understanding is that the Government will be the biggest occupier with Welfare and liuman Resourses. With this type of occupancy, we will expect a lot of Vehicle Traffic Parking. . 4 (Cc). Mary uill xoad between AcAllister and Elgin Avenue, parhing on cast side indicates six ‘hour parking. ‘This 1 would also like te sce changed to one hour parking. The reason is that we have a new conmercial building located at McAllister and Mary hild Road, and there will be approximately seven new Lusinesses located within, one being a butchers shop. Again there is on site parking, however if we jcave same at six hour parking it will effect the new occupants, and-no parking for shoppers. It is my opinion that this {£3 a reasonable request and we should adopt same. We should took at establishing a complete one hour parking for downtown. For your information and consideration.
