And nobody has asked the Kitimat hospital or surgeon Dr. Sean Phelan about what will hap- pen should the orthopaedic surgi- cal service be moved, says hospi- tal administrator Linda Coles. “We're just completing year two. I den’! know what could happen,’’: said Coles last week, “Can he actually be moved by the government? Can anybody?’’ Coles said Phelan indicated, at a Tecent Kitimat hospital’ board meeting, that he was happy in Kitimat and wasn’t. considering leaving. Phelan, from England, arrived in Kitimat nearly two years ago after an extensive, three-year search, And Kitimat quite naturally doesn’t want to give up him easi- ly, said Coles. . Dr, Peter Newbery, a Hazelton physician hired as a temporary co-ordinator for northwest medi- cal services. and who thinks Phelan should-be in Terrace if he has to: move, says it’s important not to upset Phelan. “There’s no point in entering this discussion if he is not willing to move,’’ said Newbery.
