Celebrate the 400th anniversary of Acadia, with Sandra LeCouteur and a theatrical presentation on Acadian history entitled “Vile aux 36 croix “ Sponsored by the Vancouver Board of Parks & Recreation, the Sunset Community Centre, the Kitsilano Community Centre and the Douglas Park Community Centre. A native of Miscou, New Brunswick, Sandra LeCouteur will interpret French and Acadian songs by the likes of Jacques Brel, Léo Ferré, Charles Aznavour, Barbara, Calixte Duguay, Renée Blanchar and Sylvie Royer. She was nominated for female artist of the year at the Gala des prix Eloizes in 2000, host of the Gala de la Chanson de Caraquet in 2000, and on stage at the Francofolie of the Sommet de la Francophonie in Moncton in 1999. This passionate lover of the French language will interpret with grace, emotion and humour songs from some of the greatest names in Francophonie. “Lile aux 36 croix” presents two characters, a Frenchman and an Englishman, who are recounting the great moments of Acadian history through the perceptions of Pantalone and the Philosopher in Commedia Dell’Arte. They represent themselves as explorers and builders of the entire world, and Acadia as their most beautiful discovery. A show that will bring laughter to adults and children alike!
