ass SN ELS, November /3%, 1993 SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. (COQUITLAM) 550 Poirier Street Coquitlam, B.C. V3d 6A7 Dear Sirs: Re: Traffic Problem at Viscount School at or near the intersection of Oxford Street & Sdlisbury Avenue Port Coquitlam, British Columbia My name is Kathy Pedersen and I have resided with my family at 1844 Dorset Avenue, Port Coquitlam, B.C. for the past eight years. I am writing this letter in order to voice my concerns about the safety of the children using the cross walk located at the intersection of Oxford Street and Salisoury Avenue, Port Coquitlam, B.C. by Viscount Schoo}. I have chosen to walk my childrep to school and pick them up since my daughter entered kindergarten in 1985 due to the traffic problems we were then encountering in the 1900 block of Salisbury Avenue whereby people would drive down this dead end street to let their kids off at the gate at the rear of Viscount School. These cars posed a real problem for kids walking on this. part of Salisbury Avenue as well as for the kids when crossing the cross walk at Oxford Street and Salisbury Avenue as cars would be pulling out and crossing Oxford Street without too much care for the kids crossing. I have attached copies of this correspondence for your reference. In response to this particular problem, a sign was posted at the end of the street at the gate to Viscount School saying "No drop off or pick up beyond this point", however, people still chose to drive down this street to drop off their kids at the gate. S . CO Due to the construction of the new "Viscount Middle School" on the Viscount site, Salisbury Avenue has been extended through the school grounds to meet up with Flint Street on the other side of the school and made into a one way street for drop off and pick up with the exit located at the intersection of Salisbury Avenue. and Oxford Street. a . .
