As indicated in my original ‘etter, aver the years, the map’ had sustained water damage caused by rain seepage, and the paint highlighting rivers, mountains and highways had faded. Phase I of the Challenger Relief Map Revitalization was carried out in 1990 to start the repair work and Phase II has now begun. The area around the map has been repainted and the map surface cleaned. The showcases surrounding the map have been restored and are awaiting display materials from your communities and from the Ministry of Regional and Economic Develtapment. The exterior walls of the B.C. Building have been cleaned and painted and PNE flags are flying at its entrance. We are currently looking at improving the gantry operation and intraducing some theatrical lighting
