THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM TO: Q Igor Zahynacz. P.Eng. August 13, 1999 City Engineer FROM: Russ Mammel, A.Sc.T. Project/Traffic Tech. SUBJECT: BC Transit Request for Bus 162 RECOMMENDATIONS: Approve the removal of the bus #162 route from the existing bus stap on Lougheed Highway, east of Hastings. #162 BC Transit would like to have the City's approval to take the bus Stop on Lougheed east of Hastings off the route of bus #162, as shown on the attached sketch. An alternate bus stop was proposed by Transit on Hastings, adjacent to Metro Motors, but this site was turned down because of parking problems in the area. The reason for this request is that durine the PM peak period, traffic baeks up eastbound on the Lougheed, making it difficult for the busses to pull out and cross to the left hand lane to enable a left turn onto Shaughnessy, Removing this bus stop seems to be a valid request and Transit has ll be indicated that very few #162 riders use this stop. This bus stop Wi i retained for the #160, #163, and #164 routes for those who wish to get o here, AS a Separate point, the #162 route will likely have the PM Patricia/ Hastings portion of its route removed, due to the Kitchener realignment , project. Unless an acceptable alternate route onto Patricia can be agree ou, the #162 will have to bypass Patricia by travelling south on Westwoo and then east on Lougheed. Fven if the route changes however, the request to remove this bus from the bus stop on Lougheed east of HaStings will remain.
