SUBJECT: Design of Plastic Bags for Recycling Newspapers |

RECOMMENDATION:

That the design of the plastic bags to be used for the curbside pick-up
of newspapers, as recommended by the Environmental Protection Committee, bea

approved,

BACKGROUND AND COMMENTS:

international Paper Industries has recently submitted @ proposed design
for the plastic bags which will be used for the curbside pick-up of newspapers
commencing this summer. The Environmental Protection Committee has reviewed this
design and has revised it-to delete the irrelevant information printed on the bags

pertaining to the purpose of S.H.A.R.E. Society.

A facsimile of the revised design for the plastic bags will be presented
to Council whem this item is discussed. jn conformance with the universal colours
for the recycling bags used in several other lower mainland municipalities, the
plastic bags to be used in the City will also be blue with biack lettering. ©
