fe a ay C Lo i NOV 29 {S82 (1) BE IT RESOLVED that Port Coquitlam City Council urge Federal Finance Minister Mare Lalonde and Federal Transport Minister Jean-Luc Pepin to work with the railways and the Province of British Columbia to implement Mr. J.J. Eisler's recommendations of more easterly interchange-storage area for dangerous goods as stated on page 60 of his June 1982 report entitled “Railway Transport of Dangerous Goods in the Greater Vancouver Region," and (2) BE IT RESOLVED that Port Coquitlam City Council urge GVRD's Board of Directors to study Mr. Eisler's report and urge Ottawa to work with the railways and the Province of British Columbia to implement the recommendations on page 60 of Mr. Eisler's report, for the safety of residents in Port Coquitlam, New Westminster, Vancouver, and neighbouring areas; to increase safety in downtown Vancouver's waterfront, consisting of key business and shopping districts, a number of hotel-convention facilities, and the proposed Canada Harbour Centre; and to provide an exemplary focus for Expo (Transpo) 86.
