"Meow LOUNC NOV 26 1979 Mayor and Council ; November 23rd, 1979 Alderman P.F. Ranger cc: Port Coquitlam Industial Ass'n. Downtown Merchant's Association I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the Port Coquitlam Industrial Association for their efforts in serving the interests of industry. However, I find it disturbing that the Association is party to an effort to shelve the construction of a road linking Marpole, Whyte, and McAllister between Shaughnessy Street and the Coquitlam River (see item 7 of the attached report). The Downtown Merchant's Association support this link as it is critical to improved traffic circulation, along with commercial development and increased parking downtown. I do not recall ever hearing the reasons why a group, formed to promote industry in Port Coquitlam, is against the construction of this short but vital stretch of road. Possibly the President of the Industrial Association, Mr.“George Shaw, or Alderman John Keryluk will enlighten us at their Annual Meeting on November 30th. ‘ It will be beneficial to the people we serve to promote both commercial and industrial development. To this end, I am requesting Mayor-elect George Laking to arrange a meeting in the near future between the two Associations. Respectfully submitted: P.F. Ranger
