From the Planning & Zoning Committee, August 12th, 1976, advising Plan.& Zon. i Comm.re Applns that on May 26th, 1976, a Public Information Meeting was held to consider R#7/76 & RH12/ 76 ‘ 7 Applications R#7/76 and R#12/76 - a 32-lot subdivison and a 52-unit i —_ cownhouse development, respectively, on Imperial Avenue, and submitting a report dated June 2nd, 1976 on the said Meeting. In its report, the Committee advised that since the Meeting, further consideration and negotiation with the two developers has brought some changes; namely, that the developer of the townhouse project will provide a site of roughly 1 acre for a double tennis court with the developer of the subdivision to bear the cost of constructing the court - and in exchange the normal park levy is to be waived in both cases; also, that a 64-unit townhouse development replace the previous scheme of 52 townhouses. The Committee, in its report, further advised that a letter had recently been received from School District #43 confirming school accommodation for the two developments; however, Alderman Traboulay had expressed a preference to postpone approval of the applications until the student i? enrollment this Fall is known. Moved by Alderman Laking: Seconded by Alderman Thompson: That as recommended in a report from the Planning & Zoning Committee, August 12th, 1976, Applications R#7/76 and R#12/76, being a 30~lot subdivision and a 64-unit townhouse development, respectively, on Imperial Avenue, be approved; AND THAT the necessary procedures be undertaken to prepare the required By-laws for processing to Council. Defeated. Aldermen Ranger, Thompson and Traboulay voted against the resolution. Prior to defeat of the foregoing resolution, a discussion ensued and Alderman Traboulay, in commenting on the fact that one of the most important services in a Community is the schooling of children, pointed out that people have expressed concern in that regard at previously-held ~~) Public Information Meetings in the City; however, Alderman Laking pointed out that all the Committee is recommending is preparation of the required By~laws ~ the process of which can be stopped at any time it becomes necessary. Alderman Thompson inquired as to the reason for recommending tennis as the prime recreation needed in that area and Alderman Ranger
