Parenthése | Everything you always wanted to know, but were afraid to ask Workshop for school parents The purpose of fhe workshop, Every- thing you always wanted to know, but were afraid to ask, was to give parents’ association representatives direct access fo relevant experts and information. On hand to answer questions were: B Mario Cyr, Interim Director General, Conseil scolaire francophone de C.-B (CSF); @ Guy Bonnefoy, Secretary-treasurer, Conseil scolaire francophone de C.-B; @ Judith Charest, Director, CSF Culture and Community Division; Nicole Chagnon, Director, Ecole Au coeur de I'lle and RDF (Regroupe- ment des directions d’écoles franco- phones) representative; and @ FPFCB staff and Board members. Some twenty questions were asked, and answered, during the two-hour work- shop. The informal discussion format greatly facilitated the sharing of information, and a wide variety of topics were covered. To whit: language used in PAC meetings, cur- ricula, language of home-school communi- cations, transportation, keeping culture up-to-date in the schools, the participation of non-francophone parents in the various school activities, decentralization, school UNIVERSITE SIMON FRASER AVEC LE MOND eoeeeeecec eee eee eee eee eee eee eee see eee eee ee eee eee e planning committees, etc. This workshop format was greatly appreciated by the parents as well as by the CSF and RDF representatives, who also indicated that they were prepared to re- turn next year to repeat the experience.
