BACKGROUND AND COMMENTS Development of the Meridian Industrial Park South of the Mary Hil] Bypass wil] in additional! traffic on the Coast Meridi intersections. The Beedie Ltd. inf j i e i informed that the City. the Department of Highways expects ยข Signals at both these intersections sometime en traffic warrants are met. Traffie Warrants normally only be met Where there js considerable cross street traftic, At the moment, of course, the industria! park is not developed and therefore there is very little cross Street traffie. The problem apparently arises jn That potential Purchasers of industrial land within the park are demanding guaranties that signals be installed. Any signals on arterial highways must be cost shared by the City having jurisdiction Over the cross streets. Our share of each signal wou'd be fifty percent. There are no funds Provided jin the 1987 capital budget for Signals. However, any application now is likely to result in us being billed in 1988 in any case. Therefore it would be possible for the City to Provide for the cost in the 1988 budget. Of the two intersections, the Coast Meridian intersection is the most Critical as the development of the industria} Subdivision js taking place from the Coast Meridian end. It fs Suggested that this Signal is the one that we should apely for. /2 irs fran) 09 er
