From the Parks & Recreation Committee, November 14th, 1980 Parks & Rec. recommending that Minor Hockey be permitted to hold the Bantam Tournament, re: Bantam Hockey and Minor Lacrosse. as requested, in 198] and that the ice be removed from both arenas on March 3lst of each year thereafter, Moved by Alderman Gates: Seconded by Alderman Keryluk: That Minor Hockey be permitted to hold a Buntam Tournament, as requested, in 1981 and that the ice be removed from both arenas on Marcn 31st each year thereafter. Prior to a discussion occuring on the above noted resolution Mayor Laking suggested that the matter should be tabled for one week due to the pressure of other business before the Council this evening. Alderman Keryluk advised that although the reeommendation of the Parks & Recreation Committee had been made with the full agreement of both representatives from the Lacrosse Association and Minor Hockey at a meeting held on Wednesday November 12th, 1980 the proposal was apparently being questioned in some quarters. Representatives of Minor Hockey and Lacrosse were in attendance and during the course of the discussion it was pointed ouc that Minor Hockey was apparently not satistied with the proposals for the years past 1981 as no sure dates for their tournament had been set. Alderman Gates advised that he had expected that this matter would be discussed by the executive of Minor Hockey and he suggested that the matter be deferred until this had been done.
