Monton Ski Club ski facility: He has been skiing for 22 years and was a competitive ski racer for 10 years. He raced in New Zealand, Australia, Europe and throughout North America. With that in mind he attended the ' Humber College ski area manage- ment program in Toronto. The time at Humber involved a three- month practicum (work experi- ence) at Poley as director of ski- ing. He was hired on full-time as assistant manager when he graduated from Humber. They also built a 13,000 square foot day lodge for the ski areca in just over two months, So Siemens says he’s "not jumping around about this one." He thinks Kitsumkalum Lodge will work out well at Shames. "We'll - live with the old floor plan for this year and then..." When Siemens finished with that project, he wanted to head home to Vernon. For the past year, he has . . worked as manager at the Ed- . monton Ski Club, looking after the overall operation of the ski facility. Again, he was implementing a Master Plan to upgrade the ski area and worked developing con- cepts and designs. He believes that . experience will be invaluable for Shames in its first year of opera- tion.
