Of 171 Liberals 40 were absent, none voted against the bill. Neither did any of the Social Creditors opppose it, although two were ab- sent. Four of the 49 Conservatives voted for the bill, 28 opposed it and 17 were absent. Four of the 23 CCFers also supported it, 18 de- clared against it and one was ab- sent through illness. To complete the roster, one Independent voted with the government and two others were absent. As it breaks down, MPs and Sen- ators will now receive $27 a day or $192 a week or $833 a month. This compares with the $1.33 a day or $40 a month or $480 a year receiv- ed by recipients of the federal old age pension.
