BACKGROUND AND COMMENTS: Associated Engineering's drainage report of April 1990 identified a number of drainage improvements which are considered to be necessary in the catchment area of the Coquitlam River south of the CPR tracks. The total escimated cost of these works is $1,226,000. Not all of these works need to be installed right away; however, there are economies of seale in constructing the concrete structure for the pump station as part of the floodbox structure which is paid for by the senior governments. As well, it is important to provide some additional storage in the slough to prevent flooding during periods when the floodgates are closed and there is no pump station in place. These works should be done in conjunction with the dyking project with the completion of the pumping station following shortly thereafter. Cont'd /2... RR
