PWC, Mar. 3/78 re City Halil Trees March 6th, 1978. the 1978 Budget submission; AND THAT the three crosswalk postings at Flint Street and Oxford Street be removed. Tabled. A brief discussion then ensued. Alderman Laking advised crosswalks should remain as the present system with school boy patrols is only a temporary measure and could be withdrawn at any time. Alderman Thompson suggested meeting with the parents to get their views on the need for a traffic light and the location that would be most suitable and possibly the parents could be invited to attend the next Council meeting in two weeks. Moved by Alderman Traboulay: Seconded by Alderman Mabbett: That the installation of a pedestrian actuated traffic light on Prairie Avenue at Viscount Elementary School be referred back to the Public Works Committee for further study; THAT a report be obtained from Mr. K. Mutter, School District No. 43 (Coquitlam) on the use of the School Crosswalk Patrol; AND THAT the parents concerned be invited to attend the next Council meeting to discuss the traffic situation. Carried. From the Public Works Commitee, March 3rd, 1978 recommending replacement of the two large trees at the entrance to the City Hall with ‘two 15-foot Colorado Biue Spruce trees at the estimated cost of removal and replanting of $2,000.00 as the existing trees are getting to the point where at least one of the trees could be considered as hazardous to the point of being dangerous. Moved by Alderman Mabbett: Seconded by Alderman Traboulay: That as recommended by the Public Works Committee, March 3rd, 1978 the two large trees at the entrance to the City Hall be removed and replaced with two 15~foot Colorade Blue Spruce trees at the approximate cost for removal and replanting of $2,000.00.
