By Keith Rice-Jones Jim Robison, who lives and works in England, has two books out: Large Scale Ceramics and Slab Techniques, in the A&C Black series. Jim is a regular demonstrator for Northstar and will be in Seattle for NCECA. He and his wife, Liz aka “The Potter's Moll” will be staying with us for a holiday but Jim has been arm-twisted to do a workshop at Shadbolt the weekend before NCECA (March 24 & 25). He will also be part of the NWCEF Speaker Series on the Friday evening at Emily Carr. Both of these events are not to be missed. Jim gives a great workshop; he will push your ideas of scale and working with slabs. He was a presenter at the Kelowna Symposium some years ago and has a long history teaching ceramics for Leeds University through Bretton Hall, which is now the seat of The Yorkshire Sculpture Park. Jim is an elected Fellow of the Craft Potters Association and was involved in York Art Gallery's acquisition of the Ismay Collection which is a remarkable collection of British Studio Ceramics, More details next month but mark it on your calendar!
