Eng. ar tewmree Dear Mr. Chong: Re: Lack of marked crossings - Kilmer School As a resident of the Kilmer School area, it has come to my attention that there is a complete lack of marked cross-waiks on the streets surrounding this elementary achool. I am an active member of the executive of the Kilmer Home & School Association and this subject has been of concern to us. There is a day-care centre, Mary Hill Childrens Centre, operating acroos the road from Kilmer School. Although kindergarden children who use the day-care are walked to school by a staff member of the centre, other children using the centre (from grades 1 through 7) cross without supervision and without the benefit of a marked crossing between the centre and the school. I have spoken to the staff at the day-care and they would welcome a marked crossing. A crossing at the corner of Knappen and Pooley Streets would provide safety benefits to the day- care students and other Kilmer School students who must cross Knappen Street to attend school. The intersection of Taylor and Pooley Streets is another location that would benefit from a marked crossing. Many children cross at this three way intersection te attend school. At present, this inter- section has only one stop sign. Thank you for your consideration in this matter. I look forward to receiving your comments. Yours ruly, <7 Dl bac Susan Tilkov cc Kilmer Home & School Association | Mary Hill Childrens Centre +-U
