October 6th, 1980. Alderman Traboulay then addressed the Council regarding the Public Information meeting and referred to the opposition of the people in the area to the proposed apartment development on Shaughnessy Street, Alderman Mabbett stated with the Downtown Revitalization Program apartments should be built closer to the downtown area. Aldermen Gates and Wright referred to the proposed traffic increase as a result of the proposed development and stated they did not feel the traffic would be a problem and Alderman Wright stated the traffic would not be travelling past a residential area as the apartment was situated right on Shaughnessy Street. Alderman Ranger reviewed the history of the application and stated in his opinion the proposed development would be infilling not spot zoning and referred to the other developments throughout the area. Alderman Keryluk stated in his opinion it is not fair to the people to rezone at this time property in the Apartment Phase 3 and that Council should consider a change in the Phasing policy first.
