Comm., {July 24/79 re the study carried out regarding the lighting of the all weather field all weather field. at George Pearkes School for soccer and recommending that because of the cost’of the project and the fact that it would be on school property, that the northeast corner of Lions Park be considered as an alternative. The Committee recommended investigating the cost of an all weather soccer field with lighting in Lions Park and that the ‘costs for development be brought back for Council consideration. The Recreation Director gave an explanation of the soccer field proposed for Lions Park. Mr. Lave Claggett of the Port Coquitlam Minor Soccer Association, was present to answer Council's SUSE Pye eee ne nee, enquiries on soccer field requirements. The opinionwas expressed that George Pearkes field should be pursued as the field exists and would avoid the cost of an additional field. Also that the scheduling EE ER ere NES problems with the schools could be worked out. It was also stated that Lions Park should be kept as a passive park and that this type of facility should not be located there.
