THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM MAR 20 1978 March 17,1978 MEMORANDUM TO: MAYOR AND COUNCIL MEMORANDUM FROM: LEISURE ACTIVITIES COMMITTEE 1. USER CHARGES ~ please see attached information. It is essential that we look at the rental rates and indicate to our community groups what increase they can expect for their upcoming season. During the year 1975 Council adopted a policy whereby the Arena operation would be subsidized by 50% and the Hyde Creek Operation by 65%. However, at that point in time, the operation of two arenas had not been experienced. It is now evident that this 50% subsidy is unrealistic and we should be looking at a 65% subsidy. Im order to meet this 65% subsidy for the year 1978, it will be necessary to increase the revenues by 8%. The Leisure Activities Committee would like to make the following recommendations for Council's consideration. a. That the subsidy for the Port Coquitlam Recreation Centre be set at 65%. b. That all user rates and rentals be increased by 8 % for the year 1978. . 2. PROVINCIAL PARKS AND RECREATION CONFERENCE Alderman George Laking would like to attend the annual conference in Vernon, B.C. April 27th to April 30th, 1978. The Leisure Activities Committee recommends that he be permitted to attend and that his expenses be paid. Respectfully submitted, } og Cs. “a JT/mjl... _-—~ Janna Taylor, Recreation Director
