_ THE FEDERAL government is nearly finished its own as-

. sessment of a potential copper-gold mine that already. has
provincial environmental approval.

Although the two governments shared information about

the Red Chris copper-gold property owned by bcMetals Cor- °

poration just to the east of Hwy37 south of Iskut, a federal
sign off is taking just a bit longer, says Gavin Dirom, an of-
ficial with Natural Resources Canada. '
- “There are no outstanding significant problems. It’s

~ matter of time at this point,” he said.

- “When the federal and provincial governments harmo-
nize assessments in this fashion, it reduces the complexity
and makes things more efficient,” “Dirom continued.

a higher level of review than the one for the Red Chris proj-
