The Terrace Standard, Wednesday, May 15, 1996 - B1 INSIDE SECTION B COMMUNITY CRIS LEYKAUF EVENTS B2 638-7283 | WE COULD have done without the cold wind, but that was the only complaint heard about the second Terrace-Kitimat airshow. Over 6,000 people enjoyed the sunshine and the show highlighted by some spectacular acts. Clockwise from the top: Joann Osterud awed the crowd when she skimmed the ground upside down to break a ribbon with her Ultimate 10-300S. A large pile of kids decided to see just how much weight a cargo sling could han- die on a Boeing CH 113 Labrador Search and Rescue helicopter. Fortunately the net proved up to the test. That same helicopter showed how maneuverable it was as it dropped off and picked up rescue personal, dangling them high above. the ground. a The Canadian forces Snowbirds looked impressive both on the ground and in the air. They closed off the show with an incredible display of precision flying. Coloured swirling smoke and bright red Canadian flag parachutes distinguished the Skyhawks parachute team perfor- mance. This stunt involving four para- chutists came near the climax of their show. After their performance the Skyhawks were mobbed by youngsters, eager to talk to the parachutists, and to get their auto- graphs. The Skyhawks were happy to explain their show to the kids. to RE ee
